Becky was founded in early 2002 by singer/songwriters Rebecca Lord, Robert Mailhouse, Keanu Reeves and Paulie Kosta in Los Angeles, California. What started out a casual garage band among friends quickly evolved into a cohesive ensemble whose music and stage performance subsequently attracted the attention thousands of fans. Today, after more than two years of recording and touring, Becky regularly attracts a devoted following of fans to their live shows…and to the music on the Web site…from all over the world. Their enthusiasm, creative drive and passionate desire to creatively experiment are bringing Becky ever closer to mainstream success.
Hard work and longstanding creative ambitions notwithstanding, Becky came together almost by accident. In April of 2002, friends Mailhouse and Kosta were toying with the idea of starting a band and began casually jamming together. Invited to one such session, Rebecca decided to sing along to their music. The impromptu sparks lit the fuse for the creation of a band.
There was on glaring hole in the fledgling outfit—they needed a bassist. Numerous accomplished musicians auditioned, but none really fit, save one: Dogstar émigré Reeves, whose contributions were felt not only on the bottom end, but in the songwriting process.
Like any true band, they started honing their cohesive chops, playing an endless number of gigs between intense wood-shedding for songs. Their constant live appearances helped them generate an eTeam of over 10,000 fans. Two appearances on Sharon Osbourne’s syndicated TV show cemented their place as one of southern California’s most sought-after unsigned bands.
It was obvious that Becky, the band, had become a legitimate presence on the music scene. Subsequently, due to a succession of outside commitments, Reeves could no longer participate as a full-time member. Although he contributes creatively in the songwriting, bassist Christian Bevacqua and guitarist Eric Clausen were brought in to keep the band in overdrive.
Which is where they are now. Led by Lord’s growing passion and confidence as a focal point, the band called Becky is attracting even more fans who enjoy their music on a first-name basis.
